Question Sending e-mail from nmh or mail using ssmtp not working:

I am trying to setup nmh to use for email. I already got it to get incoming email for me but I cannot get it to send email.

When trying to send email using comp it gives me the error:
Code:
send-mail: Connection lost in middle of processing
I also gives me this error when I try it using the command: (I censored the email addresses)
Code:
 echo "hallo" | mailx -s "hallo" censored@hotmail.nl censored@hotmail.com
Her are some of my config files, some of them are censored or stripped of spaces or comments:

Here is /etc/nmh/mts.conf:
Code:
mts: sendmail/pipe
localname:
mmdfldir: /var/mail
mmdflfil:
Here is /etc/ssmtp/ssmtp.conf:
Code:
root=postmaster
mailhub=smtp.googlemail.com:465
AuthUser: censored@gmail.com
AuthPass: censored
Hostname=fedora-1
FromLineOverride=YES
UseSTARTTLS=YES
TLS_CA_File=/etc/pki/tls/certs/ca-bundle.crt
And here is my /etc/ssmtp/revaliases:
Code:
c:censored@gmail.com:smtp.googlemail.com:465
In /var/log/messages it keeps saying:
Code:
May 23 23:10:31 fedora-1 NetworkManager[916]: <warn> nl_recvmsgs() error: (-33) Dump inconsistency detected, interrupted
With different timestamps offcourse.

And in /var/log/mail.log it keeps saying:
Code:
May 23 23:05:23 fedora-1 sSMTP[5624]: Creating SSL connection to host
May 23 23:15:23 fedora-1 sSMTP[5624]: Connection lost in middle of processing
With different timestamps offcourse.

I would really like to send email with nmh so any advice/help/suggestions are greatly appreciated and if you need more info then please tell.

I solved it:

I installed and configured msmtp and used "mts: sendmail/pipe" in the mts.conf.

I also used "sendmail: sendmail" in mts.conf and patched nmh to work with a relative sendmail option. If I had specified an absolute path then I would not have needed to patch nmh. But for reasons that are pretty specific to my machine I did not want to specify the absolute path.

The sendmail command was implemented by msmtp and not by sendmail on my system.

Sorry for bumping but even after all this time this topic comes up pretty high in DuckDuckGo so I wanted to post the solution here.
