As the title says really.

I've installed proftpd and I'm using webmin to manage the server.

I've created a user called webdevftp and I've set it's home directory to /var/www/html

I can login to ftp using user account, but I can't upload anything. I've changed the owner of the folder to webdevftp and the group to webdevftp but that didn't make any difference.

I've placed some files in the /var/www/html folder, but when I login to ftp I can't see the files, which makes me think that it's not displaying the correct folder?

Anyone any ideas?

have you tried really logging in with ssh or telnet ? what do you see ?

did you give "r-x" permission to all of /var, /var/www and /var/www/html
