Problem in LDAP Server

Hi...

I am going to install LDAP server in RHEL4, i have finished all the entry and command. Now i run this command to import *.ldif file to LDAP, it showing me following error.

coomnd:

ldapadd -x -D "cn=root,dc=forte,dc=com" -W -f root.ldif

"Now it ask for password"

Enter LDAP Password:

Here i have enter LDAP server password, at installation time when i created. Now it give this error...

ldap_bind: Can't contact LDAP server (-1)

KIndly give me solution....

Are you sure that slapd is running? Run

Code:

ps -ef|grep slapd

to check

Well we have to start are the server not even running, or being reachable on your network. add a few -v's to the command line for more information.
