phpinfo stops on showing date module information

hello
I have an apache2 php5 on an ubuntu 10.04 it was working fine except today and does not open web site now.
I tried to open phpinfo.php but it takes long time and at the end it loads php informations just until date module.
I installed php5-cli to find out what does not work properly then I used:

as you can see it stops on loading date module information and I should abort it by ctrl+c.
I reinstalled php5 and apache2 but it did not help.
I have to say that apache eating memory after each time I refresh my site in my explorer and I replaced my index.php with another test one and it opened correctly but phpinfo.php opens with error until date module yet.

what can I do to fix this?

Thanks for any help.

or

I've seen php complaining for the lack of a timezone. So maybe you should try to add one and see if it helps.
Open php.ini and look for the [Date] section. Uncomment date.timezone and add your timezone like the examples here

BTW edit /etc/php5/cli/conf.d/mcrypt.ini and replace that "#" with a ";" so it stops complaining about this too.

Regards
