hi,
For file server i am using windows server 2003 for my windows xp and windows 7 clients machines.I want to switch into Samba server. For that I choose CentOS 6.6 which has samba 3.6.9 in it.
The thing which I want to discuss is what should the professional way for partitioning my 300 GB Hard Disk for a dedicated samba server.
/boot 100MB
/ 100 GB
/home (For User files)
Swap (Double of Ram)
Please guide me the way best way.

Both of these things are bad choices. You've purposely loaded an old version of CentOS on a new machine (which will make it obsolete quicker), and you purposely loaded an old version of Samba. Why??? Load the latest of everything for a new installation...there is NO REASON to use old Samba, especially since you loaded Samba 4 TWO YEARS AGO, didn't you??

You've asked very similar questions in the past, and we've 'guided you' then. The answer hasn't changed: partition things however you'd like. The ONLY thing of concern is the swap partition, which is pointless to have double the space of your RAM. That's an old rule, based on old systems.
Well the samba was configured by using the following scheme.I assign home partition for 50 GB space to keep their files. The server was not 100% functional ,many problems due to not proper samba 4 configuration Later on due to hardware problem in my server i again use my windows server on my stand by server.
The server which i am using now is 32 bit and Centos 7 will not work on it.Debian 7 i can use but my choice is centos which has the latest edition in CentOS 6.6 and has samba by default.
Is there Centos 7 available for 32 bit hardware ? Regarding to samba i have to install the latest version on my hard disk.
but 1st is the partition of my 300 GB Hard Disk.I can do according to my mind which will be not a professional way (i know) i want a standard way .please guide me.
thanks in advance

Having problems with Samba because it's not configured correctly, does NOT mean it's a good idea to use old, insecure software.

..and you didn't mention you had a 32bit limitation, but if this is a production server, WHY would you use old hardware? And you can easily install the latest Samba on CentOS 6.6

Go look at the CentOS website.

If you are tasked with doing this job, then you should know how to do it. AGAIN, we cann't 'guide you'...the only SUGGESTION is to make your swap MUCH smaller...anything else is up to you.
