OSSIM / Debian screen writes

I'm experimenting with setting up OSSIM for the first time. I'm still trying to set up a few services at the command line and I am being bombarded by extra entries displaying on the screen that I didn't type. They all regard various OSSIM services, primarily Snort. How can I shut this off? I already tried turning off the emerg * alert in the rsyslog.conf file. I'm lost at this point.

Please forgive me if this isn't the best place to post this - I remember running into an error like this a few years ago and the good folks here helped me resolve it.

It really depends on where messages come from. If you want to check everything then I'd start with application configuration files and command line arguments (logging, verbosity, syslog, debug settings), then (r)syslog(-ng) settings that log facility.priority to "*" or specific TTYs and then personal settings. Stray messages on the console usually point to missing a 'dmesg -n [value]' setting in ones personal shell resources.
