Question number of zones is 16 though i configured one zone only

Interesting is that when i press "service named status" in a fedora 5 it says

numbers of zones is 6 which is right as i configured 6 zones there in named.conf file in a minimum.

but it says numbers of zones is 16 when i press "service named status" in fedora 9 though i configured only one zone in named.conf.

Waiting for ur reply.

Newer versions of bind have some "empty" zones already predefined, that is why you see those 16 zones. You can look at your logs to see which of them are loaded at bond tartup.
