No keyboard / mouse on remote VNC connection to Ubuntu server

Hi guys.
Maybe someone can help me with this one, or knows a better method.. thank you

I have an Ubuntu server 20.04 VPS that i am trying to connect to with VNC.
I setup xfce on it and the tightvnc server. I am able to connect to it, but i get no input working form the keyboard or mouse..

The client i am using to connect is Remote Desktop Viewer, and i also tried vncviewer on the terminal with the same result.

I got it working by setting up things with a different guide.

I am able to connect to it with an SSH tunnel so it is actually faster than connecting straight with VNC... but after 20 minutes of playing with it, i can assure this is the most unstable and useless method to manage an ubuntu server. Not worth the trouble.

Im looking forward to a somewhat more stable way to manage a server with graphical tools.
