the old rhel5.5 ( RHEL5.8 is current in the 5 series)

contact red hat
you are paying them from $399 to $1,900 to $6,400 per year for support on a server

a 32 bit os will only see 3.3 ( or 3.7) gig of ram on a 64 bit box

if you have 12 gig of ram

please install the current RHEL6.3 64 bit OS ( or if you MUST 100% MUST use 5 then 5.8)

for a server
the REQUIRED support license
https://www.redhat.com/apps/store/server/

?? this is the blade server from your other post ??
if so you need the SERVER license

or
on a single desktop
https://www.redhat.com/apps/store/desktop/

RHEL is not free
You have to buy a license

if you are NOT going to do that then do not use red hat

Install one of the FREE rebuilds instead
CentOS 6.3 64 bit
ScientificLinux 6.3 64 bit

Thank you John for the information!Yes,this the Blade Server on my other post, but I already figured out that issue.
Yes we use RHEL without registration to RedHat Support,we just get the installer on download source in the internet.

the I DO RECOMMEND that you PORT it now !! to CentOS

a unregistered rhel server will NEVER get any security fixes
it is VERY VERY UNSAFE!!!!! to run a server with KNOWN and unfixed holes

an unpatched server will VERY quickly be ZOMBIED

and you can get locked out , or be the CAUSE of a lot of SPAM

it is very easy to migrate from rhel to the FREE centos

With RHEL you HAVE to have the license to get updates
CentOS is FREE you do NOT have to pay anyone for the updates

but if you need support then buying the red hat license IS a good choice
it is a small price to pay for peace of mind

CentOS assumes that you have RHEL system administration experience
-- or a lot of linux experience ---
you ARE your OWN tech support

if that is a scary thought then buy the red hat license and use that

if not
CentOS 6.3 is the current

but right now you have RHEL5 installed so you can ONLY migrate to CentOS5.8

for the current release you will need to do a new install with CentOS 6.3

Cent for the most part uses red hat's own documentation
https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/docs/
https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/...erprise_Linux/
and the cent wiki
http://wiki.centos.org/
