N numbers of httpd process running??


Hi Masters,


Thanks in Advance,

Need a clarification,

when i check the httpd status its shows n numbers of httpd process

httpd (pid 20146 20141 20140 20138 19488 19227 19202 19043 19009 19008 19007 19005 19004 19003 19002 19001 19000 18998 12754 12753 12752 7007) is running...


is this any major issue? need your guidance to clarify this, and its a shared hosting server.

If you're running apache as prefork it will create an additional process for each user connecting to the web server. If you are not running PHP (mod_php) then you can run apache as multi-threaded, which is often faster but requires all modules being used to be completely compatible with a multi-threaded environment, and PHP uses some 3rd party libraries that are not thread safe.
