mysql4 with php5 can it work?

Hello!

Can I install mysql4.1.22 with php5.1.6 on fedora6? I manually install mysql4.1.22 server, client, devel, shared and php5.1.6 is system default installed. Then I install phpmyadmin 2.10, comes up error :

Cannot load mysqli extension. Please check your PHP configuration.
------------------------------------------
It also can not install php-mysql4.1.22,

dependency error : need php 4.1.2
------------------------------------------
I yum install php-devel (it automatically look for php5.1.6)

error: Transaction Check Error: file /usr/bin/mysql_config from install of mysql-5.0.27-1.fc6 conflicts with file from package MySQL-devel-4.1.22-0.glibc23

I tried this for one week. How can I fix this? thanks.

Check in php.ini file weather the extension directory is set properly.

If you are installing php 5.1.6 then you need php-mysql also of the same version because it is adding mysql support to php. So you get php-mysql5.1.6 and mostly it should start working.

By the way why do you want to use mysql 4.1.22. Why not mysql 5.0.X also FC6 has it, so you don't need to install manually as well.
