memory status


i am watching the out puts of 'free' and 'gnome-system-monitor' but there is a huge difference.now i am in confusion which one is right.anybody can help me to take right decision? and why this difference?

I don't like the gnome monitor - it gives you the amount of memory used minus buffers and cache. "free -m" give you all the data you need; look at the second line to get the same number as gnome monitor.
