mail issue

Hi,

I have a doubt . suppose that a cpanel server or a normal plain server is hosting 10 domains . 5 domains have dedicated ips . Remaining 5 domains are sharing the comming shared ip of the server .

When a mail is sent from the webmail account of a domain having the dedicated ip , then the email will be sent from the dedicated ip and not from the shared ip of the server in which the mail server is installed .

My questions are

could anybody please explain how this works ?

Also when you install cpanel , you install it for a particular ip right ? So the mail server will be attached to that particular ip . So basically how does the sent address ( ip ) differ when the mail server sends mail from a domain having dedicated ip and from that which is sharing the same ip as that of the server ?

where do you actually make this setting ( the cpanel server and also in the case of a plain server ) ?

Thanks
