I’m trying to install FreeRADIUS on Ubuntu 14.04 server. The documentation page, http://freeradius.org/doc/, has a link to the Wiki installation page promising detailed instructions. The link sent me to an authentication page. I finally got past that, and came to what looks like a Wiki input page. No installation instructions to be found.

On my Ubuntu server, I tried sudo apt-get install freeradius. This appeared to install without error. Then sudo su, followed by radiusd -X as described in the documentation page. I get a message that radiusd can be found in other packages.

Can someone direct me to instructions to install and get started with FreeRADIUS.

I am not sure how the installation might be for ubuntu, but you may follow the link below which describes how to install freeRADIUS to authenticate openVPN users. I guess steps should be same except some changes in the file locations...

On Ubuntu replace radiusd -X with freeradius -X. File locations are slightly different but you can figure that out with little problem. If this is your first time I cannot stress enough to take your time. Make small, incremental changes. Good luck!

Doh! nearly forgot. Here's the site with official documentation http://wiki.freeradius.org/guide/HOWTO. http://deployingradius.com/documents/configuration/ is another radius deployment info source. Unfortunately it suffers the same "file location" issues that the official wiki suffers from when working with ubuntu. Again, good luck!
