I have a Ubuntu 8.04 server running apache2 and bind9. I can access my DNS via the localhost (dig caritasnet.com) and the internet (
http://network-tools.com/) but I cannot seem to access my domain through my local network. On my router, there is a function for DNS relay, which automatically reroutes my local network DNS to the DNS servers of my ISP. After I disable that function my local networks lose their DNS capability. How would I configure my local domain server (caritasnet.com) to handle the local DNS? Do I need to have each computer join the domain before I can access domain resources?
What I would also like to do is direct local domain(caritasnet.com) traffic to the apache client. In other words, if someone accesses caritasnet.com from their browser, it would automatically direct to this server, even if the domain isn't externally associated with that IP address.
I can access the server via ssh, ftp, apache(www) and samba, both internally and externally.
Thanks in advance for your help.
