Im trying to move a server from something that was Windows XP, to linux (CentOS 4.4). Origionaly i used ftp, for its simplisity, but the users want to be able to eddit files live off the server. (Like you can do by just sharing something from any window PC.) Mainly just excel and word documents etc...

What would be the best solution for this, that will work with windows pc's? Also would something like this be abe to cope with access documents? (they would just be stored on the server, but run on local windows mashines).

Thanks! Am reading through the documentation at the moment. Is NetBIOS nessesary if i just wish to share the files?

Is anyone able to tell me what there experience of this is? How simple is it to get something like this working. (just file sharing!)

I dont know about corporate environment, but i used samba for sharing files between various systems at home and it is astonishingly easy. Setting up a simple share with samba is very very easy and there is a lot and lots of help available. So you should not have any problems.
