Post linux active directory\Identity management

Hi there,

I am new to linux and i need to know if it is possible for linux server to authenticate windows client and server machine like windows Server Active directory does. If so, is there any documentations that i can get to setup linux active directory\identity management to authenticate both windows and linux machine. Thanks in advance.

regards
Arun Krishnan

First, please read the "Question Guidelines" link in my posting signature. When posting, please do basic research/searching first...this question has been asked (and answered) MANY times on this site, and much more is available with a brief Google search. Also, when asking a question, you need to provide details..."linux server" doesn't tell us much. Version/distro of Linux? What kind of hardware? Number of users? What's your actual GOAL in doing this?

Secondly, yes, Linux can be an active directory controller....putting "how to set up linux to be an active directory controller" into Google gives you, as the very first hit:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Set...ain_Controller

...COMPLETE documentation from the Samba website. Install Samba, and configure it as you wish.
