"ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49)" even though password's right

I have been trying to ldapadd a .ldif file I created (just using Ubuntu's LDAP tutorial), and when I enter my LDAP password (assuming it's the ldap admin password), I am given the line in the subject. I am 100% certain that the password is, in fact, correct as it is simple and near-impossible to misspell. I even tried changing the password with slappaswd just to make sure.

Hi,

Please note that openldap in newer ubuntu versions uses the new cn=config DIT instead of slapd.conf
If you want to change the admin password you should change the olcRootPW in /etc/ldap/slapd.d/cn\=config/olcDatabase\=\{1\}hdb.ldif (and maybe do the same for the administrator of the cn=config DIT defined in /etc/ldap/slapd.d/cn=config/olcDatabase={0}config.ldif).

Regards
