[SOLVED]konqueror nfs location only works when root

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hi all,

I have the following problem:

I setup a computer as an nfs server.

When I mount nfs://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx then it works (as root).

same when I browse to nfs://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx with konqueror as root, it works as it should.

However, when I try the same in konqueror, then I cannot access the files.

If I do nfs://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx then I see the different directories that are shared. But as soon as I click one of them, konqueror gives me a messages "the file or folder ... does not exist".
While it does exist and works fine in konqueror run as root.

Anyone has a clue?

Thanks in advance!

Hi deadeyes,

I've never tried to access an NFS share through a browser, but it sounds like a permission issue on the exported directories.

Also, are you running SELinux? What distro?

The nfs server is running FreeBSD without SELinux.

The /etc/exports file is as follows:
Code:
/backup-volume/filestorage /backup-volume/allmusic
/usr/home/torrentflux
Code:
# showmount -e
Exports list on localhost:
/usr/home/torrentflux Everyone
/backup-volume/filestorage Everyone
/backup-volume/allmusic Everyone
EDIT: I found what the problem was. mountd needed -n option on my FreeBSD NFS server (weak_mountd_authentication="YES" or mountd_flags="-r -n" in rc.conf)
This allows connections from clients which send request on non-privileged ports (insecure in /etc/exports in linux).

If you want the total story:

I hope this helps someone else.

Thanks for your help here!
