joomla installation page showing only files and folders

hi,

im tring to install joomla, so i downloaded joomla 1.5 and extracted to /var/www/html, when open firefox and hit localhost it shows all the files and folders in /var/www/html folder instead of installation page.

please help me what to do

thank you.

create a directory and extract in that dir.then browse it as localhost/installation
