How to Take Complete REDHAT O.S Backup ?


Hi,

Can anybody help me with the commands to take the complete Redhat O.S Backup before going for upgrade of O.S from 5.3 to 5.8 Version ?

Hi,

for a "complete" (not actually sure what that means) backup you may want a disk image. Have you looked at clonezilla? See http://www.clonezilla.org/

However, depending on your situation I think this could be overkill. Upgrades between minor versions of RHEL should be pretty smooth.

this is RHEL, just run yum -y upgrade and you will move from 5.3 - 5.9. there is very little to worry about. its a large part of what you pay for when it comes to your SLA.
