How to remove SQL, etc.

I think I messed up installations/configs of PHP and SQL/phpMyAdmin
(keep getting errors trying to access).

I would like to step back and just install the XAMPP package and play
around before I upgrade.

How do I remove what I tried to install so I can start over with XAMPP?

When I try to install XAMPP over what was in there before, the XAMPP
status page says SQL is not running even though my Mac OSX (10.4.8)
preference pane says it is. However I'm guessing XAMPP status is partly
right because, its phpMyAdmin throws an SQL error. I think part of the
problem may be that the PHP and SQL packages I installed are newer
versions.

I imagine there must be some CLI to remove PHP and SQL so I can start
fresh?
