How to configure NFSv4 on SLES server

Hello everyone,

I am trying to configure NFSv4 on my SLES server and it does work upto an extent but I am still confused about its working.

I have googled for it and I was able to get tutorials on but I am really confused with the implementation.

Here is what I am trying to do:

1. I have configured two shares /my-data/backup and /my-data/appdata
2. I am trying to export these two directories. I want these directories to be mounted by client using NFSv4.
3. On the server end I have already enabled support for NFSv4 in /etc/sysconfig/nfs
4. If I mount using nfs -t nfs4 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:/ /mnt it works. The reason being it mounts everything which is there in root directory (the concept of pseudo directory).

I don't want it that way. I want the shares to be exported as it get exported in normal nfs. However, I should be able to mount using NFSv4.

I have read the documents and googled it but couldn't get it working. I would appreciate if someone could let me know a step by step procedure to setup NFSv4 the way I want.

Thanks in advance.

Following link answered my queries: http://www.vanemery.com/Linux/NFSv4/...no-rpcsec.html

You're welcome. That was my job though. We should always mark thread as solved if the issue/query has been resolved :-)
