I have redhat cd's(total 5 cd's). I want to install RHEL4. My problem is that I am not sure that cd's are RHEL4 version. How can check the version of rhel using cd's?
You could try booting the first CD, normally that will tell you what version it is. If it's not the one you expected just abort installation. Isn't there any label on the CD?
This would only work on a system which is up and running, the OP has install media only. Also uname -a will only giver kernel details, not the installed distro information. To get the installed version of a running Red Hat based system you would need to do
