Downloading file through apache server


Hi guy's
i have installed phpbb forum in linux using apache web server. it's working well.when i was trying to download a file with is stored in the same system, internally (inside our organization ) it works well. But same way i hosted the forum outside the network and tried the login is working , but downloading file it say's the path not found. ya i can understand it's searching for the DNS and say's the path is not found.
but i want the apache to check the local system for downloading the files. so can anyone help me !

DNS != path not found.

It sounds like you are saying you put the forum on a remote host, but have not updated the phpbb paths with the correct local file system layout. The admin interface should give you a way to enter the directory root for your file archives. This is probably still referring to the previous setup.
