dovecot and RHELAS 4u4

So I'm trying to get dovecot running but I'm running into a know problem:

service dovecot start
Starting Dovecot Imap: [ OK ]
====
service dovecot status
dovecot dead but subsys locked
====
/var/log/maillog:
Jan 27 08:55:59 iades001 dovecot: Dovecot starting up
Jan 27 08:56:00 iades001 dovecot: Auth process died too early - shutting down
Jan 27 08:56:00 iades001 dovecot: child 7454 (auth) returned error 127
Jan 27 08:56:00 iades001 imap-login: fd_send(-1) failed: Broken pipe
====
/usr/libexec/dovecot/dovecot-auth
/usr/libexec/dovecot/dovecot-auth: error while loading shared libraries: libmysqlclient.so.14: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
====

turns out I have libmysqlclient.so.15

Which version of dovecot can I install to get it working with my system. Could I install libmysqlclient.so.14? I don't know if that'll mess things up and if that's the only missing library.

Here's the info on my system:
uname -a

Linux iaads01 2.6.9-42.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed Jul 12 23:27:17 EDT 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This is a total duct-tape solution, but it might work:

Create a symlink from libmysqlclient.so.15 to libmysqlclient.so.14 and see of Dovecot will start. The libraries might be compatible.

Well, it is a file missing error. IMHO what you can do is use yum.

first remove the software and then re-install it with yum, and it will load all the needed packages.

Get back to me if you need any help in using yum.

BTW, have you tried auximini's solution. Does it work ? Sometimes these kind of solutions does work.
