Having issues with a dmg download.
On 1 rhel 6.9 server, it downloads fine in all browsers.
On a second rhel 6.9 server, it downloads in firefox(windows, mac, and rhel), but no other browsers.
The acl are not identical between the 2 servers for the directories, but it seems to me that if Firefox and download it, then it may not be a permissions issue?
Sorry, downloading from a rhel 6.9 server. Firefox will download it, other browsers give a massive page of jumbled characters and a few letters hear and there.
Well, it is a printer install dmg file for macs. I can't give the url as you can't get to it. It is only accessible on the company network.
Basically, a person clicks the url, it asks to download the dmg. It works fine in firefox.
It does not work on chrome/ie/safari. I don't have the ability to do a screen shot at this time, but this is a snippet of what happens:

So the url in the address bar after clicking is prefaced with ftp:// rather than http:// ?
That's what we need to know. We don't need the actual uri...
Clicking a link won't normally initiate a download. There are several ways to make that happen. We need to know which is being used.
I have tried playing with permissions and acl and the url does the same thing. Works in FF, but no other browser. The only difference between the old server and new server on acl is there are additional users listed on the new server, otherwise, they are the same. It just doesn't seem to be permissions. So, permissions down to /var, appear to be fine.
Oh, and so I answer it, the hyperlink to click on, does not offer a right click, save as.
