CGI Problem?

I have been trying to install Blosxom, a perl script based web blog, on both my desktop and on a host server based system.

Following the install procedure, blosxom.cgi is placed in the /public_html/cgi-bin directory. The data files are placed in the /home/user/blosxom data directory.

After configuring the blosxom.cgi, I should be able to access the file via a web browser. However, when opening the file, it is displayed in a text editor rather than as a web page as it should.

I can run the blosxom.cgi as a script from a command line and it will generate the page source.

I believe this is an Apache configuration issue but I have been unable to solve it.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Jeff

If you have root access, try placing them in the ScriptAliased directory, possibly /var/www/cgi-bin. If you don't have root access, you are probably unable to fix this, since you will need to modify the Apache config file.

Thanks for the ideas. I can go the alias route on one server that is a vps. The other is in a shared environment.

The blosxom.cgi script permissions are set to 755.
