Cannot connect to email server via external connection
Hello all,
I have a Postfix, dovcot, Mailscanner config for a mail server and it has been working fine. Now for some reason I am not able to connect to the SMTP to send mail via thunderbird. I can telnet to the device from the server telnet host.mail.com 25 and send myself an email. But when I try to telnet to the mail server from an external device (from a different ip) I am unable to get a connection. I should get a ssl certificate because I have enabled ssl and tls. When I go to my maillog file I do not see the entry for any external connections. I am not sure what to try now, any ideas?
Are you saying that you can connect to localhost but not from elsewhere? if so, it sounds like a firewall or port forwarding issue, but check the postfix is listening on more than localhost with
Here is what I got:
netstat -nalp | grep :25
(No info could be read for "-p": geteuid()=500 but you should be root.)
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:25 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN -
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:25 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN -
tcp 0 0 ::ffff:72.52.242.XXX:143 ::ffff:69.216.129.XXX:2515 ESTABLISHED -
So it looks like the port is open, now what? Thanks for the help by the way.

Sorry about the first question. I can connect via local command line vi telnet. I can also send mail via local install of squirrel Mail. Here is my output for the command iptables -L.
