Can anyone help me to know the reason in proftpd configuration

Hello, everybody!

I have a problem with the connection to ftp server.
I have installed the ProFTP on Linux.
After I finish the configuration of proftpd.conf, I can connect to the ftp server with console mode.
I mean that I run command prompt on my computer , connect to ftp server using ftp command and I can get the files form the server.
But when I try to connect with WS-FTP pro, I get the message to say "An error occurred opening that folder on the FTP Server. Make sure you have permission to access that folder."
There says "login successful.Preparing to chroot to directory '/home/***'.FTP session closed" on the proftp logfile in server.

Can anyone know what is the reason?

Best regards.
Thanks

Hello,
Have you verified your permission for that folder? Meaning, the user you are using to log in (FTP) allows you to access that folder?

check your firewall

I had a simular problem, turns out that if your ftp program is trying to use PASV ftp and your firewall is not open on the PASV ports, many ftp clients will lock-up, or otherwise fail. so check to make sure that you have the correct ports open.

good luck
