Bilateral Backup

Hi,
I have a notebook and a desktop: One has windows 7, other has Ubuntu.

I want to keep certain folders syncronized but without creating a dedicated server, cause I want to duplicate the folder so if notebook or desktop fails my files still intact somewhere.

How can I do that? Keep then sync in my network? Windows to Linux and vice-versa?

I've research about rsync but have no ideia on how I'm going to use it.

PS: Sorry for the topic in the server section but I dont know where this fits

Hello,

Have a look at Unison File Synchronizer. It works on a variety of operating systems and is highly configurable. If set up correct, which isn't hard to do, where-ever you make changes, be it on your Linux machine or your Windows one, Unison will synchronize the files according to how you set it up. I have it installed on a couple of servers and it works great.

Kind regards,

Eric
