well, my thoughts are this is the firewall somehow blocking it. i am not sure what is going on but i believe i had a service called cups enalbled that is no longer available and this might be the issue.

i can see the job being put into que but the printer doesnt complete the job...man this is frustrating especially when you need the printer to work.

I googled after this error message:
Code:
: Grayscale/monochrome printing requested for this job but Poppler is not able to convert to grayscale/monochrome PostScript.
: Use \"pdftops-renderer\" option (see README file) to use Ghostscript or MuPDF for the PDF -> PostScript conversion.
Seems removing and creating the printer anew in the CUPS web interface or, at least, changing something in the printer settings there and saving afterwards may help. See e.g. this post.

Unrelated but uncommenting FileDevice No in the /etc/cups/cups-files.conf will get rid of those annoying "Printer-Subscriptions" messages.
