adminer not working

I just installed LEMP on my debian 6 server, and I am unable to use adminer to connect to mysql on it.
This is my my.cnf :
PHP Code:
#
# The MySQL database server configuration file.
#
# You can copy this to one of:
# - "/etc/mysql/my.cnf" to set global options,
# - "~/.my.cnf" to set user-specific options.

# One can use all long options that the program supports.
# Run program with --help to get a list of available options and with
# --print-defaults to see which it would actually understand and use.
#
# For explanations see
# http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/server-system-variables.html

# This will be passed to all mysql clients
# It has been reported that passwords should be enclosed with ticks/quotes
# escpecially if they contain "#" chars...
# Remember to edit /etc/mysql/debian.cnf when changing the socket location.

I listed the users, and this is the output :
mysql> select user,host from mysql.user;
+------------------+-----------+
| user | host |
+------------------+-----------+
| root | 127.0.0.1 |
| xxx.xxx.xxx | localhost |
| debian-sys-maint | localhost |
| root | localhost |
| root | mieuvzuj |
+------------------+-----------+
5 rows in set (0.00 sec)

I tried using all of these hosts and users to login, using localhost and root, I get this : Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
Using 127.0.0.1 and root, same. Using the ip and localhost, I get the same thing again. Using mieuvzuj and root, I get this : Can't connect to MySQL server on 'mieuvzuj' (113)
Where is the problem? Why am I unable to connect to mysql?
