WARNING message on www.linux.org

I was educating myself on Linux and then wanted to register on the www.linux.org but got the following message:

The site's security certificate is not trusted!
You attempted to reach www.linux.org, but the server presented a certificate issued by an entity that is not trusted by your computer's operating system. This may mean that the server has generated its own security credentials, which Google Chrome cannot rely on for identity information, or an attacker may be trying to intercept your communications. You should not proceed, especially if you have never seen this warning before for this site.

So I stopped. What should I do? Is the site to be trusted? Is there another link to the REAL site that I should use to register?

Welcome to LQ!

You get that warning because: The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.

You can safely choose I Understand the Risks and then Add Exception... then Confirm Security Exception.

Thanks Bruce, I will register and continue my education on Linux there as well as other sources that people have provided me.

I thought I was done with computing and could just live my life as a happy user. But I could not use Internet Explorer to access my hotmail for weeks. That led me to discover Google Chrome as my default browser, Gmail instead of hotmail and now Linux instead of Windows.
I used to get paid doing things like this but thanks to Microsoft I'm doing it just for my pleasure now
