As far as I've seen, there are very few successful viruses made for *nix systems. But they do exist, last check on my fav. AV site shows none in the wild currently.
But Kazaa? IMO, I'd never let that on any of my systems, Linux or Win. It has a history of including Spyware and God knows what else. They claim to have removed all spyware, but still, would you take their word for it after the fact? If you want to move files around, use FTP. I've never had any trouble with ProFTPd, and people download stuff off me all day, from all areas of the world. And besides, there are many viruses now that are starting to use P2P to spread. Even if your Linux box isn't directly affected, the extra bandwidth needed to move viruses around adds up. My mail logs since Swen are now 5 times as long as before Swen was out. Swen also spreads thru Kazaa.
