imo limewire is just slow and not-that-good-thing...with spyware or not
I don't actually know any easy-to-use and good (at the same time) p2p programs, except for KaZaA for Windows (but that's just a gift-package full of stuff you don't want to come over to your pc and say hello)..and that wasn't that good either..
anyway, I'd suggest you try either gtk-gnutella (that suddenly stopped working on my machine some time ago? it's quite ok, or rather was, though) and dcgui-qt which is a direct connect client for linux. not that easy to use, but if you go to it's website they'll teach you quickly to use it easily
that beats almost every other file sharing app there is..
except that I don't need such apps
but if that's left out of the count, dcgui-qt is a thing that's good to learn.
