well i never used limewire nor never will, but i have read that LimeWire promised their
"customers" that they will/did remove the spyware that used to exist in their past
versions, and no longer will exist in version 4.0 for both linux and windows ...

imo limewire is just slow and not-that-good-thing...with spyware or not I don't actually know any easy-to-use and good (at the same time) p2p programs, except for KaZaA for Windows (but that's just a gift-package full of stuff you don't want to come over to your pc and say hello)..and that wasn't that good either..

anyway, I'd suggest you try either gtk-gnutella (that suddenly stopped working on my machine some time ago? it's quite ok, or rather was, though) and dcgui-qt which is a direct connect client for linux. not that easy to use, but if you go to it's website they'll teach you quickly to use it easily that beats almost every other file sharing app there is..

except that I don't need such apps but if that's left out of the count, dcgui-qt is a thing that's good to learn.

I would use gift daemon and giFTcurs or either Apollon. They are both great clients.
Apollon is GTK+ and giFTcurs is ncurses based. gift daemon which they both use have plugins to access the fasttrack, OpenFT, and Gnutella network. Works great for me.

Get Nicotine, a soulseek client, which is excellent.
