smoothwall vs ipcop? which one is better?


which one is better in term of security??? pls comment, thanks...

Security is in the hands of the admin.
Neither product performs better per se, but it's how they're configured. I'd suggest trying both and making an educated decision.

There the same right down to the same addons AFAIK.
I always used ipcop.
Im useing it on a cyrex 6 x86 p1

ipcop v 1.4 wont work on it so im useing 1.3

ipcop 1.4 really cant work..... i really dunno how to use it... too bad....anyone tries before??

Hmm..what do you mean it cant work?
Hardware wont detect?

Try ipcop 1.3
its got quite a bit of features.

Or monowall as said above.

When I had problems accessing the Smoothwall site for updates I switched to IPCop. When a current IPCop did not recognize my NIC I switched back to Smoothwall. Really they are so similar that you can switch back and forth if there is a bigger issue in one than in the other. After the initial setup (read their documentation) either is easy to use for a simple network.
