Question on Nessus.

Hi,
I am using nessus for scanning my network consisting of Windows and Linux machines.

The nessus server is insatalled on a Linux machine and I my using NessusWX client from my windows desktop. After configuring all the standard settings when I scan the windows machines it only generates a report of the ports open, but does not inform me if the system is unpatched or other details from the MS security bulletins.

Could someone tell me what configuration I am missing - probably domain admin password setting somewhere etc.

Cheers,
Abhi.

Have you tried selecting any of the additional plugins from the nessus scan menu?

Yep, I have configured the plugins as per the target machines I am scanning. Eg. to scan Windows machines I have the Windows,"Windows: MS Bulletins and "Windows: User management" groups selected. In case of Linux all the plugin groups for UNIX and Redhat are selected.

My main concern is where and how to enter the credential information in NessusWX, there is a doc in the nessus site for doing the same for NeWT and the X windows interface of Nessus.

I would like to know how to do that in NessusWX.

Cheers,
Abhi.
