Arrow Port 53

So, my web host requires me to use port 53 to maintain my website

i.e. myhost.net:53 to access my site control panel etc.

on windows this works fine.......so when I'm at work I can do this.

in Linux, when I try this, mozilla says that the port has been disabled

how do I remedy this.

I'm using RH8 and I tried adjusting security settings and all.

Help?

What ISP would re-use the DNS port for a control panel?

A crappy ISP.
AFAIK no sane browser should allow you accessing TCP/53.
Lynx and links however don't object.

Port 53 is used for DNS lookups and WHOIS searches, and based on that fact my recommendation to fixing the problem would be to find a new ISP. However, this is probably not a very viable solution, so the next best thing to try (I make no guarantees) is to lower your Mozilla security settings. However, this opens a number of security holes (scripting attacks, etc) so I don't recommend it. The simple fact that you can do it on Windows is a great example of the lack of security in the OS.
