PHP max form fields?

Users are discussing a module for a CMS and an issue it has. It was resolved by a user saying

I have had the same problem, but my provider solved it.

He told me that it was like a sort of security from php that only 12 formfields could be submitted once. He changed it for me and now I can submit as many fields as I want.

It didn't belong to register globals on or off.
I have tried Googling for info about this security in php with max form fields, but came up with nothing. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

There are settings in PHP (php.ini) which can determine the number of input variables.

It could have been the max_input_nesting_level or mysql.max_persistent

I've already looked over php.ini and did not see anything.

I do not have a max_input_nesting_level in my php.ini

It could also have to do with memory_limit or other memory size variables which is limiting the fields available. These may not be PHP default imposed limits as much as your system provider's PHP default limits.

This may have something to do with it, depending on the size of the form fields you submit.

Other than that, I've never heard of any kind of PHP limitation that limits the number of post fields a PHP script will accept.
