Lightbulb Moving /etc/passwd /etc/ shadow between LINUX servers

I have just completed a server build on oracle linux 6.10 and need to know how to move 300 users from 1 server to a new server with minimal issues. Can i move /etc/passwd /etc/group /etc/home and /etc/shadow?

Any other files? I have no scripting experience!

Step by step directions would be great since I am new to oracle and system admin

Hi & Welcome to LQ.

Congrads on your server build.

While you are waiting for someone to give step by step instructions; the link to this tutorial should help or at the very least be educational.

We have members here with server class distribution experience that can help you but you'll have to wait for them to join your thread.

The first thing you will want to do is make a backup of the current users and passwords.
Than restore passwords and other files in /etc/.

***See this tutorial and look under "Commands to type on new Linux system"***

https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/howto-...to-new-server/

You can use the tar and awk commands too:-

I have no scripting experience!
why are you in charge of a server with 300 users then?

sorry, but this needs to be said.
