How to set up the firewall properly with SuSE 9.1?

I'm new to linux and I have just recently installed SuSE linux 9.1 personal on my machine. I really like SuSE and now i'm trying to set up the firewall and I don't really know what i'm doing. I was just wondering if someone could walk me through and help me set it up properly. Or maybe since I don't know much about linux it may not be neccesary--but I wouldn't know. So if someone could just help me out with this. Thanks!

Try Firestarter. It's a great firewall for anyone new to Linux. You can download it from Sourceforge

1. Open yast2, hit "Security and Users", "Firewall".
2. Use the wizard, select you internal and external network interfaces.
3. Next select the services you want to have available to the Internet. I only leave ssh open myself.
4. there's another screen I forget what it asks you have to decide what's best for your network here. (I only check the forwarding one.)
4. select your logging level I would stay away from the debug part as it fills up you messages a bit fast.
5. Done' Firewall configured.

Also, remember there are more specific configuration variables in: /etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2
