How does Smoothwall work?


Does smoothwall work like any other distro? or is it only a firewall? Other info?

if you mean does it have compilers and stuff, no. it's a distro with specific purposes: firewalling, routing, ids, etc. iow, don't install it expecting to do regular work and stuff like that.

I wasn't planning to. Does it require understanding of iptables etc.? Do you have to set up your own iptables rules? Is there a command line login? could it theoretically be used as a regular distro? Is it as secure as stable debian?
