Unhappy how can I block some list of websites in redhat linux server


I want to block some list of websites in my office .I am planning have a red hat Linux server. I have bit Idea about blocking IP address but how to block a particular website all together.Is there any provisions to type in the website name and deny that website instead of typing deny IP address or is there any effective way of blocking the website in redhat linux platform.I would be very great full if anybody can answer me.Thanks in advance.

The easier way to have it done is with a proxy server (squid). You can create ACLs with deny and permit. You can combine it with some "transparent proxy" rules if you don't want to configure it on every workstation.

Blocking web sites with squid

There is a thread here on using squid and squidguard for blocking web sites. It was mistakenly entitled "Blocking porn with resolv.conf", but there is some detail there on how to configure squid with squidguard and a free or commercial blocking database.
