Help needed on ipfwadm/ipchains.

OS : Linux Red Hat 6.2
Problem : I have a web application that requires port 8081 and 7755 to function correctly. Erm... how do I know if I have ipchains or ipfwadm running? I looked at /etc/rc.d/rc3.d and it shows ipchains has already been killed (K92ipchains) so that leaves ipfwadm.

The web application won't run because it says those above mentioned ports have been blocked.

Anyway I can test / confirm that these 2 ports are closed?

I installed the OS by choosing "server".. no additional customization.

Any help would be great!

Ipchains is an interface to configure how the kernel should filter network traffic. If you don't set rules, ipchains will default to setting it's built-in chain policies to DENY. "ipchains -L" will show what rules are in effect.

You can use "chkconfig --list" to see which programs are running and in which runlevels. With chkconfig, you can also turn those runlevels on or off.
