Iam using IPTABLES based firewall cum squid as a transparent proxy..right now my comapany need the requirements to block something the details i have mentioned below.is can any one help on this how can write rules in firewall script and squid.conf files
Below I have mentioned Our Company requirements points.
1. Ip based access to internet
2. grade based access to download files
3. able to block chats for individuals ( like yahoo, msn, google etc)
4. able to know who accessed what site
5. net usage per system and overall
6. able to run the report to know usage or access done by each system
7. single point control to stop access to net and lan/wan
8. Review of the firewall rules
9. Implementation of MRTG graph
10. Implementatation of SARG report (this is for url tracking purpose)
11. Squid authentication with different authentication levels (maximum of 3 groups) & blocking of predefined file types
12) – Grade based access to download files – All the developers should be allowed to download the documents, i.e .doc, .pdf, .chm. So I should be able to have file extension & grade based downloads.
13) – Chat should be blocked at all the levels. i.e Now a days, some people are using the web chat. This is also based on individuals.
14)Also I need to block the audio stream and should have exception list. i.e Audio from Microsoft site or any other technical site should be working.
15)Net usage should automatically send the mail every week to the concerned persons.

That's quite a list you've got there. I hope you aren't planning on having us walk you through each of those items on this thread - because it's not going to happen. Hopefully they were just meant as an illustration of your circumstances. You really need to be much more specific, as dumping a 15-point wishlist of quasi-related objectives on the forum without providing us with any clue as to what you've tried so far, where you are stuck at, what you are unsure of, etc. simply isn't going to fly. We'll proceed on the premise that this is strictly a Squid/iptables question (based on the thread title). So what does your current Squid/iptables setup look like? How much experience do you have? What (specifically) do you need help with?
