fingerprint-gui "Could not open fingerprint device"

Hi,

I'm getting the below error from fingerprint-gui

Code:
 "Could not open fingerprint device"
I have a TCS1C EIM/STM32 Fingerprint sensor (Upek).

lsusb shows
Code:
Bus 002 Device 007: ID 147e:3001 Upek TCS1C EIM/STM32 Fingerprint sensor
Anyone else have issues with this device? I've tried root account in case it was a genuine permission config issue - no difference.

I'm running Mint 17.1 (Ubuntu 14.04)

Dumb question, did you try using sudo when starting up the software you are using?

So I found this article https://launchpad.net/~fingerprint/+...ingerprint-gui and it appears that your fingerprint scanner is supported. In the instructions, did you log out/in after the installation?

Hi,

Yes, I've run the software as root. No change.

After log-out / log-in didn't work, I rebooted... No change.

Noticed this in kern.log

Code:
Dec 15 22:45:02 hostname kernel: [ 294.548548] usb 2-3: reset full-speed USB device number 4 using xhci_hcd
Dec 15 22:45:02 hostname kernel: [ 294.564562] xhci_hcd 0000:00:14.0: xHCI xhci_drop_endpoint called with disabled ep ffff880035f7d780
Dec 15 22:45:02 hostname kernel: [ 294.564575] xhci_hcd 0000:00:14.0: xHCI xhci_drop_endpoint called with disabled ep ffff880035f7d7c0
Dec 15 22:45:02 hostname kernel: [ 294.564582] xhci_hcd 0000:00:14.0: xHCI xhci_drop_endpoint called with disabled ep ffff880035f7d800
Dec 15 22:45:02 hostname kernel: [ 294.564612] usb 2-3: ep 0x83 - rounding interval to 128 microframes, ep desc says 160 microframes
Will do some more digging...

Looks like it might be an xHCI issue with my kernel.... 3.13.0-24-generic
