Exclamation Cannot log into root!


Hey! I cannot log into my root profile!

I type



Username: root





Password (yea right ill post it here, but i know i get it right) ********

And it just says incorrect username or password. Please help. Need a prog installing in root.

Just found out about the whole root blocked thing. Matter resolved. But thanks for the interest

Am not that much good in linux but from experience trying what am about to say might solve your problem mind you tha am using redhat linux version 9.

OK juz follow these steps;

1) Press 'e' when the first screen of linux appear, this result to 3 lines select the
middle one ie the second one.

2) Press 'e' again and then 1 and the end of the line, as shown below. Note the
difference between the two, the first one is OK whereas the second will lead to kernel
panic take care...

grub edit> kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.20-8 ro root=LABEL=/ 1
grub edit> kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.20-8 ro root=LABEL=/1

3) Press ENTER then 'b' this will reboot your box and take you to single usermode

4) Finally type passwd for a new password

Peace of cake huh!!!!
