Question Buffer Overflow to access root


I'm doing a project on buffer overflow attack on Red Hat servers from Fedora core 6 and windows clients. The thing is to access root from a terminal by doing buffer overflow attack. But so far m not successful. Can anyone please give me suggestions regarding this. Or pliz send a me some codes.

"Red Hat servers".... yea this doesn't seem like a productive project. I would have to agree with reverse on this one. Sorry dickysolo..... One suggestion I would give would be to find a different project.

Agreed. Even if this were for legitimate reasons, any answer would essentially provide a walkthrough on cracking. LQ isn't the kind of place to find that material. Closing thread.
