Hi guys
ADSL modem and all computers connected to 1 switch. I'm trying to install Srorewall. On my firewall computer I have 2 interfaces ppp0 and eth0. From firewall machine I can surf the internet but other computers can't. Do I need PPTP installed for this config? Can this config work with Shorewall theoretically?

Ok, let me see if I follow you: You have 1 ADSL modem. This modem has a WAN side and a LAN side. The LAN side of the modem is attached to a switch, to which the other machines on your network are also connected, including the machine you want to use as a firewall.

Questions:

- What is the IP-adress of the ADSL modem on the LAN side?
- What IP-range do you use for the non-firewall machines on your network?
- Does this mean your firewall machine has 2 ethernet interfaces that are both connected to the same switch?
- What are the IP-adresses of the ppp0 and eth0 interfaces?

Actually the problem is solved by adding one more NIC, switch and configuring classic network. In shorewall I've made separate zones "internet" -ppp0 "modem" -eth0 "fw" and "loc" -eth1 I think that shorewall can't work with the previous configuration because interface ppp0 apears to be connected to both and internet and modem. And without zone modem it can't work.
